My dear Father,
I am really grateful to you for your query about my preparation for the ensuing SSC Examination. You will be glad to know that I have taken quite a good preparation for it.
I have thoroughly studied al the books and have consulted with test papers’ questions to have a good idea about the question pattern. I have gathered knowledge about tricky and critical questions. I have also sought advice from my teacher and they have provided me with valuable suggestions.
Of late, I have overcome my deficiencies in Chemistry and Elective Math. I have taken equal caution against all other subjects and have revised them several times.

2. Wrote a letter to your pen friend describing your native village.
21st March 2009
Dhaka, Bangladesh
Dear Tom,
I am really grateful to you for your quick response to my letter. In your letter you have described your living area and have asked me describe my native village. I am giving you a short description of my village here.
The name of our village is Rasulpur. It is under the district of Kishoregonj. A big river named Buriganga runs by the north-west side of the village. It is two miles long and one mile broad. My native village is really a nice one. The natural beauties of our village are very charming. The trees are standing in rows. Various kinds of water flowers are found in the village. Various kinds of fruits grow in plenty in our village. Some of the trees are century old. The chirping of the birds gives everyone lots of pleasure. The river side is also good place to visit in the morning and in the evening. While walking by the side of the river gentle breeze soothes our mind. The green fields are also pleasing to look at.
Near about four thousand people live in the village. All of them are Muslims. Most of the villagers are cultivators. Some are service holders, some are businessmen, some are shopkeepers, some are carpenters and some are weavers. Majority of the people are of middle class. Literary percentage is about seventy five. There are one primary school, one high school, one madrasa, one college in the village. There are also a post office, a daily bazaar, and a charitable dispensary in the village. There are two mosques here. All daily necessaries are found in the village.
The climate of the village is very suitable for health. The communication system of our village is very good. It is connected with the town through a metalled road. Above all, I can say it is an ideal village to live. I am very proud of my village.
I invite you to pay a visit to our country and my village. Best wishes to your friends.
Yours ever,
Shakil
Write a letter to your friend consoling her at the sudden death of her father,
March 21, 2010
Mirpur – 10
Dhaka – 1216
My dear Asifa,
The news of your father’s sudden and premature death came to me like a bolt from the blue.
We are deeply grieved to learn that your father is no more in this material world. I never thought that his illness was so serious and I was not at all ready to receive such a bad news. I was terribly shocked at the news. Let me offer my sincerest commiseration on this mournful occasion. The loss of your father is irrevocable. But you must keep it in mind that man is mortal. Further, as the eldest daughter of your father you have to look after the younger too. So, please don’t loose heart.
May the Almighty Allah grant you strength to bear this loss manfully. I pray that Allah will grant heaven to your father.
With humble regards to your mother and love to the younger ones.
Yours sincerely
Fahima
3.Write a letter to you friend describing the sports day of your school.
March 21, 2009
Mirpur – 10
Dhaka – 1216
My dear Asif,
I am glad to receive your letter. But I could not write to you because I was extremely busy with the annual sports day of our school. I participated in three events and I had to work hard to perform well in those events. Now I am giving you as short description of our annual sports day.
The annual sports of our school took place on Wednesday, 20th August. The volunteers with the co-operation of the office bearers decorated the school compound nicely and tastefully. They did this under the guidance of the physical instructor and some other teachers. Seating arrangement was made for the guests properly. Adequate seating arrangements were made for the spectators both male and female. The D.C. was the chief guest. He arrived in time and the competition started at 9:30 with the running of the Olympic torch by a student. This was followed by the hoisting of the National flag and the flying of the pigeons of peace.
Immediately after this the march past took place and the D.C. took the salute. Then, he declared the sports meet opened. There were twenty five events in all. The most important events were 100 metre sprint, 400 metre sprint, 800 metre sprint, javelin throw, putting the shot, discuss throw, broad jump, high jump, hop-step and jump, Paul vault, hurdle race, cycle race (slow and fast), weight lifting, tug-of-war, dress as you like etc. About two hundred students participated in all the events. I participated in three events and got first prize in all of them. The D.C. dealt out the trophies among the winners. It was a day of joy and pleasure for me and all those who were present there.
No more today. Best regards to your father and mother and love to the younger ones.
Yours truly,
Nahida
4. Write a letter to your younger brother telling him about the bad effects of smoking and to give it up.
March 21, 2011
Mirpur – 10
Dhaka – 1216
My dear Asif,
I have received an alarming letter from my mother which informed me about your smoking habit. I am really shocked at that news. Don’t you know how dreadful the smoking is? Cigarettes contain harmful particles of matter which are fatal to man. These deadly matters are – nicotine, methyl alcohol, carbon monoxide, arsenic, benzopyrene and several other acids. Nicotine impedes the flow of blood and oxygen in the body. It causes blood pressure which results in heart attack. Benzopyrene causes cancer, Bronchitis and other mortal diseases. Smoking cigarette ruins the vitality of life and hastens death. It also harms the nerves, damages the brain and sometimes spoils the character. Smoking cigarette is no less than committing suicide.
Being a sensible, you should pay heed to all these things and I strongly believe that your will not do injustice to yourself and you will give up smoking without delay.
Yours truly,
Nahida

There are about five thousand students in our school. Many of the students are studious. Only the text books cannot satisfy their thirst for knowledge. So they want to increase their knowledge considerably by reading novels, poems and dramas. But as the collected books are very few in number, they cannot have the books according to their choice. Our school library only contains some novels and poems by some ancients novelists and poets. So I think it necessary to buy many more enlarge the stock of books.
Hence, I pray and hope that the splendidly benign personality and generosity you are fully endowed with, would be melted to take necessary step for buying more books in order to enrich the school library.

It has greatly benefited us and brought about revolutionary changes in our life. To speak the very truth, we cannot do a single day without computer. Its usefulness cannot be described in words. We are lagging far behind in comparison with the developed countries. But it is a matter of great regret that there is no computer club in our school.
