There was an old woman in Makkah. She used to set thorns on the way of Hazrat Muhammad (Sm.). Everyday at dawn when he went to Kaba, the holy temple built by Abraham, he got hurt by the thorns and the woman laughed from a little distance.
Hazrat Muhammad (Sm.) was so kind and noble that he could forgive his enemy. One day when he saw there was no thorn on his way to Kaba, he looked hither and thither. But he found none. He thought the old woman who set thorns must be ill. He decided to visit her.
At once, the Prophet went to the hut of the old woman. He found the woman lying on her sick bed and crying. He asked her how she was and why she did not do her regular duty. The woman became ashamed. She was at a loss what to say.
The Prophet (Sm.) rendered his best service to help the woman so that she could get cured soon. At this the naughty woman realized that this man whom she gave pains was truly a Prophet indeed. He was the true messenger of Allah. She got repented and embraced Islam. Thus, Islam was spread by tolerance and greatness, not with swords.
